At the CAADRIA 2025 workshop held at the University of Tokyo, we presented an exhibition that used Portalgraph.
Challenges
The client was exploring exhibition methods that would allow visitors to interactively experience 3D representations generated through AI-powered depth estimation using deep learning techniques.
Solution
As a method to bridge digital and physical spaces, the client chose to adopt Portalgraph for its ability to project onto large screens, its smooth tracking performance that adapts to changes in viewpoint, and its simple setup requirements. With technical support and equipment provided by Portalgraph, we created an interactive installation where AI-generated 3D objects could be viewed from multiple angles depending on each visitor’s perspective. The exhibition featured two types of screens: a horizontal screen (80cm wide × 50cm tall) projected onto a tabletop, and a vertical screen (1.5m wide × 1m tall) projected onto a wall. Portalgraph’s real-time projection technology enabled dynamic changes in the appearance of the objects based on the viewer’s angle, delivering a highly immersive experience.
Results
The interactive exhibition received an enthusiastic response from workshop attendees, greatly satisfying our client. The Space Pointillism workshop that we helped exhibit was awarded the BEST WORKSHOP AWARD - RUNNER UP.

Portalgraph was used again for the exhibition at Gallery TEN, Shibuya, Tokyo. From text (ideas) as input through image generation → video generation → depth estimation → 3D animation, these were displayed as pseudo-holograms using Portalgraph.
